Cookie Policy

Version 2026-08-17 — effective 17 August 2026

This document explains which cookies and similar technologies we use, what they do, and how you can manage them. It covers all our websites: rankwit.ai and www.rankwit.ai, the try.rankwit.ai platform and its industry versions (hotel, destination, ecommerce.rankwit.ai), the magic.rankwit.ai portal, and behavior-factory.rankwit.ai.

It is provided under Article 122 of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 (the Privacy Code), Articles 6 and 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, and the Italian Data Protection Authority’s guidelines of 10 June 2021.

The data controller is RANKWIT SRL SOCIETÀ BENEFIT, Piazza delle Scuole 6, 95021 Aci Castello (CT), Italy, VAT 06209300877 — info@rankwit.ai. For all other processing purposes, your rights, retention periods, and international data transfers, please refer to our Privacy Notice.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device through your browser. They can be read again when you return to the same site and are used to remember information: that you are signed in, what preferences you set, how you interact with pages.

We also use technologies with a comparable effect, in particular the browser’s local storage. Unlike cookies, this data is never sent to our servers: it stays on your device and only serves to make the interface work.

Cookies are described as first-party when we set them on the rankwit.ai domain, and third-party when set by an external provider. They are session cookies if deleted when you close the browser, and persistent if they remain until the stated expiry or until you delete them.

2. How to manage your preferences

On your first visit we show you a banner. Until you make a choice, we install strictly necessary cookies only: no analytics or marketing tool is activated and the Google Tag Manager container is not even loaded, so no request goes out to Google’s servers.

From the banner you can:

  • Accept all cookies;
  • Reject non-necessary cookies, through a control that is as immediate and as prominent as the accept control;
  • Customise your choice, enabling or disabling the “Analytics” and “Marketing” categories individually.

You can change your mind at any time through the “Cookie preferences” control at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw a consent you previously gave, we actively delete the cookies set by the disabled categories and reload the page, so that identifiers already on your device do not remain active until their natural expiry.

Your choice applies across all the websites listed above, because it is stored on .rankwit.ai. It is kept for 180 days; after that the banner is shown again. It is also shown again if we make material changes to the categories or providers described here. Closing the banner without choosing, continuing to browse, or scrolling does not amount to consent.

3. The categories we use

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies — always active

These let you browse our websites and use the essential functions of the Platform: keeping your session signed in, remembering your cookie choice, and protecting forms against automated submissions. Without them the service cannot be provided. They do not require your consent under Article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code and cannot be switched off from the preferences panel.

  • rw_consent — first party, domain .rankwit.ai, 180 days. Records which categories you accepted or rejected, when you chose, and which policy version was in force at the time. This is the cookie that prevents the banner from reappearing on every page.
  • rankwit_session — first party, 7 days, on the Platform only. Keeps your session active after sign-in. It is an httpOnly cookie: scripts running in the browser cannot read it.
  • sidebar_state — first party, 7 days, on the Platform only. Remembers whether the side menu is open or collapsed.
  • Cloudflare technical cookies (for example __cf_bm, cf_clearance) — third party, from 30 minutes to 30 days. Set by the Cloudflare Turnstile anti-bot service, which protects our public forms against automated submissions. Notice: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
  • Webflow technical cookies — third party, set by the platform hosting rankwit.ai so that pages and forms work. Webflow’s own site analytics is disabled on our site. Notice: webflow.com/legal/privacy.

The following items stored in your browser’s local storage are likewise strictly necessary. They remain on your device and are never transmitted to us:

  • theme — light or dark interface theme.
  • rankwit:preferred-org-id — the last workspace you selected, so we can reopen it on your return.
  • rw.table.v1.* — table preferences: visible columns, widths, density, sorting.
  • rw_magic_email, rw_magic_state — temporary data from the card portal and from multi-step forms, so you do not have to fill them in again.

3.2 Analytics cookies — only with your consent

These tell us, in aggregate, which pages work and where users run into difficulty, so we can improve the service. They are set through Google Tag Manager, which we load only after you consent. We use two separate containers: GTM-P3HDXNZH on the rankwit.ai website and GTM-5P48MTPR on the Platform.

  • _ga — third party (Google), 2 years. Assigns an identifier to the device in order to distinguish visitors.
  • _ga_<ID> — third party (Google), 2 years. Maintains session state for the specific Google Analytics 4 property.

Provider: Google Ireland Limited. Notice: policies.google.com/privacy. How Google uses data from partner sites: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

3.3 Marketing cookies — only with your consent

These measure how our advertising campaigns perform and allow relevant ads to be shown on the providers’ platforms. They too are managed through Google Tag Manager and activated only after you consent.

  • _gcl_au — third party (Google), 90 days. Attributes conversions originating from Google ads.
  • _fbp — third party (Meta), 90 days. Identifies the browser for campaign measurement on Facebook and Instagram.
  • _fbc — third party (Meta), 90 days. Stores the parameter of the ad you clicked, linking the visit to the campaign.

Providers: Google Ireland Limited (notice) and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (notice).

3.4 Embedded third-party content

On our booking pages we embed the Cal.com scheduling widget. It loads only when you reach that step and may set its own technical cookies, necessary for the booking to work. Notice: cal.com/privacy.

4. Google Consent Mode

We pass your choice to Google tags through Consent Mode v2. The signals map as follows:

  • Necessarysecurity_storage, functionality_storage: always granted, covering security and first-party technical preferences such as theme and menu state.
  • Analyticsanalytics_storage.
  • Marketingad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, personalization_storage.

The optional signals stay set to “denied” until you give explicit consent, and are updated in real time whenever you change your preferences. Without consent, Google tags write no cookies or identifiers to your device.

5. Managing cookies from your browser

In addition to our preferences panel, you can block or delete cookies directly in your browser. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent you from signing in to the Platform and stop some pages from working. Official instructions:

6. Legal basis and your rights

Strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing the service you requested securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), together with the consent exemption in Article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code. All other cookies are set solely on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing already carried out.

For the exercise of your rights under Articles 15 to 22 GDPR, retention periods, international transfers, and complaints to the Italian Data Protection Authority, see our Privacy Notice or write to info@rankwit.ai.

7. Updates

This document may be updated when the tools we use change. Each version is identified by the date shown at the top of this document, and we keep an archived copy of it. The version in force is always published on this page. Where the changes concern the categories or the providers, we will ask for your consent again through the banner.
